Study of corrosion rate in reinforced-concrete

Dubravka Bjegović, Dubravka Bjegović, Gojko Balabanić

Abstract

Results obtained by the study of corrosion rate, conducted on two groups of reinforced-concrete samples, are presented in the paper. The accelerated corrosion of steel was incited by alternating wetting and drying cycles in salt chamber. Three corrosion parameters were measured: electrochemical potential, electrical resistance of concrete, and corrosion current density. The measurement results were analysed and, on that basis, recommendations are given for assessing condition of reinforcing steel in the scope of analysis of existing structures.
